• Machu Picchu and the optional sites are open all year round, even on Sundays and Holidays.
• The tickets are sold by season and the season goes from January 1st to December 31st. The initial date to purchase for next season depends on the Peruvian Government. Usually, the date to start purchasing is around December 20th. If you want, you can subscribe to be informed once sales for next season will start.
• A large number of available spaces does not mean at all that "there is still time". Some agencies group their requests together and it is not unusual to see 30 spaces go away in only 5 minutes.
• It is possible that some spaces are released. The counter is then increased. Pre-reservation and payment system implemented by the Government make that, even if it not usual, pre-reserved and non paid spaces are available again.
• The availability is controlled by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture. Only they are able to manage and authorize the access to Machu Picchu and the optional sites.

• From 1 January 2019, the visit of Machu Picchu only will take place according to 9 different schedules, the visit of Wayna Picchu according to 3 schedules and the visit of Mountain according to 3 schedules (see details).
